00 — NFPA 25 schedule

NFPA 25 inspection schedule.

From weekly checks to five-year tests, a schedule for every part of the system.

03Inspection

Inspect it before you need it.

An inspection is a visual check. A test is hands-on. Maintenance keeps it all operable. We do all three, on the schedule your system needs.

01

A standard for inspection, testing and maintenance

NFPA 25 is the Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems. Fire sprinkler inspections should be conducted by a qualified person. Although some inspections can be done by qualified in-house personnel, we recommend that testing and maintenance be done by a licensed sprinkler company.

02

Weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual

Gauges on wet pipe systems are inspected monthly, and on dry, preaction and deluge systems weekly. Sealed control valves are inspected weekly. Alarm devices, the hydraulic nameplate, fire department connections and pressure reducing valves are inspected quarterly. Pipe and fittings, hangers and bracing, and sprinkler heads are inspected annually.

01

Tests and multi-year items

Waterflow alarms and alarm devices are tested quarterly. The main drain and the antifreeze solution are tested annually. Gauges are tested every five years, and sprinkler heads follow a schedule by type: extra high temperature heads every five years, fast response heads at 20 years and every 10 years after that, and all others at 50 years and every 10 years after that.

02

Keep the records

Records of all sprinkler system inspections, tests and maintenance should be kept for at least five years. Your local fire department can confirm the requirements for your building.
